A practical guide to Islamic teachings on marraige and the wedding ceremony, especially in the context of the cultural practices prevalent in the Indian subcontinent.
Maulana Thanwi omits nothing of relevance from this book. He has pointed out very lucidly the utter needlessness of evil customs associated with marriage (specifically in the Indian subcontinental culture.) They are alien to Islam. He has spoken at length on the issues of dowry, dower, bari nawtah, walimah, suitable match, ripe time of marriage, polygamy, etiquettes to be observed by wife and husband, the qualities of an ideal wife and an ideal husband.
He has cited Ahadith of the Holy Prophet sallallahu 'alayhi wasallam and examples of contemporary life. The key word throughout the book is simplicity in conducting marriage and Sayyidah Fatimah's example to support it.
